The flu bug is not biting in the Wichita Falls area just yet, but but health officials say now is the time to get a shot of protection.
And, several doctors offices, clinics and pharmacies are already offering flu shots.
Each year, health officials encourage everyone to get their shot but this year, they say it's crucial since there's a change in the vaccine.
"In the vaccine there's an A strain and a B strain of flu and it's different this year. In addition to the H1N1 strain that was in last year's there's gonna be another A strain in there for the H3N2 virus that is starting to become more prevalent than it has been in the past," says Kay Sabine, immunization charge nurse with the Wichita Falls - Wichita County Public Health District.
Wichita County health department officials plan to make 1,500 adult doses of the vaccine available to the public.
And, they'll start giving them during their annual Flu Shot Clinic, which is still being coordinated.
