There is a way for local residents to celebrate July 4th with a bang and not worry about breaking any laws.

Just head over to Sheppard Air Force Base for FreedomFest 2012.

The base will open its gates for an afternoon and evening that will include live music, food, fun.

And the day will end with an illuminating fireworks show.

But this big event is actually happening before July 4th.

FreedomFest 2012 is this Saturday at Sheppard Air Force Base.

Gates open at 1 p.m. and admission is free.
