A decades old Texoma tradition continued Sunday,as the Windthorst Knights of Columbus dished out another serving of their famous homemade German sausage meal at St. Marys Parish in Windthorst.
1,500 pounds of sausage was dolled out for Sunday's feast. Proceeds from the sausage meal will benefit the volunteer Fire Fighters in Windthorst, as they gear up for another year.
"Fire season is coming up here real quickly and we apply the money towards our equipment, for fuel, for upgrades we may see fit. We put it right in to our fire department and make sure we are serving the community the best way we can," said Dallas Fillingim, Windthorst Volunteer Fire Fighter.
An estimated 1,600 people scarfed down sausage at Sunday's meal.
