Fifty-five year old Mike Guerero spends several days a week at Texas Workforce Solutions in Wichita Falls.
"I'm struggling trying to find a job... I've been looking for the last two years, actually since ABB closed down," says Guerero.
He's raising his six year old granddaughter and says she keeps him determined and going.
But now, he and thousands of other unemployed Texans will soon get help with a nine week extension of unemployment benefits.
"When the state has an average unemployment rate of 7% or higher over the past three months they can come back and adjust extensions for benefits," says Bill Scantlin, business services manager at Workforce Solutions North Texas.
And that's what's happening across the state.
The extension may also apply for about 32,000 Texans whose benefits have already expired.
And for folks like Mike Guerero the additional nine weeks of finances will be a blessing.

State officials say if you currently receive unemployment benefits you do not have to contact workforce solutions.
The additional nine weeks of benefits will be automatically added to your account.
