Folks in the Petrolia and Byers area are sitting in the dark tonight after the power went out around 7 pm.
A spokeswoman for Texas-New Mexico Power says 883 customers were affected by the outage when a piece of equipment at the Petrolia substation failed.
It may be midnight, at the earliest, before power is restored because there is some sort of problem along the line.
Crews are inpsecting eight miles of line to locate the source of the second problem.
