A high profile murder trial in Stephens County has been pushed to next year. The motion for a delay in the trial of Miles Bench was filed this week with no objection from the state.

Bench is charged with first degree murder for the slaying of a Velma teen who went to the store where Bench worked in June of 2012. The body of 16-year-old Braylee Henry was found in a field near Bench's grandparents' home. Authorities say she was beaten to death.

Bench's attorneys say he is not mentally competent to stand trial, but he was found competent to stand trial in two different exams.

Bench's trial had been set for August of last year, then April of this year, but the hearings on competency and a change of attorneys kept delaying his trial. His trial has now been moved to the January docket.
