Wilbarger County authorities are investigating whether or not a Vernon high school teacher engaged in an improper relationship with a student.
Sheriff Larry Lee says the investigation involves a 41 year old female science teacher and a 15 year old male sophomore student.
Officials stress it is still early in the investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
Lee says authorities are still conducting interviews.
At this time, the alleged victim and about seven potential witnesses have been interviewed.
Lee says the teacher has not been interviewed, as she is hospitalized for medical reasons at this time.
The teacher is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
According to Superintendent Tom Woody, the teacher has been employed with Vernon ISD since August 2010.
