The TAKS standarizded test is being replaced in Texas public schools and Wichita Falls school officials are holding two meetings so parents can learn more about it.
The new testing system is called STAAR, which stands for State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness.
School officials say STAAR is more rigorous than the TAKS test and will contain more test questions at most grade levels.
Fifth through nineth graders will start taking STAAR tests next week but this week, parents can get more information about the new testing system.
On Thursday, March 22nd, as well as the following Thursday, March 29th, WFISD will host a STAAR informational meeting at the Barwise Junior High auditorium which is on Kemp Boulevard.
Both meetings start at 6 p.m.
