A steady stream of readers this weekend helps the Wichita Adult Literacy Council get closer to their fundraising goal of $15,000. For the past three days, book worms have been able to buy hard and soft back books at a huge discount, with some books going for as little as 50 cents. The program's proceeds will help adults learn how to read through the Wichita Adult Literacy Council.
"I think we are on target so we are optimistic that we are going to meet [our goal]. We have had a steady flow, if not rush of people coming in. it's been fabulous. we've had a really good turn out this year," said Cindy Price, Wichita Adult Literacy Council.
Organizers say about 25,000 books were sold over the last three days.
