Wichita County Could Receive Help From FEMA

While 12 Texoma counties were approved for federal disaster aid for the wildfires of last spring and summer,  Wichita County was left out.
Now aid may finally be on its way from FEMA.
But Wichita County Judge Woody Gossom says it might be too late to help in many cases.
FEMA announced today Wichita and two other Texas counties can now apply for reimbursement of some fire related costs  for fires between April 6th and August 29th of last year.
Those costs include debris removal from public areas, emergency responder actions,   and repairs for roads, public buildings and utilities.
Last year's fires destroyed dozens of homes in Wichita County.
Judge Gossom says right now, it's too early to know the limitations of the assistance or to be able to figure out exactly what the funding will cover.
He says the county should learn more during a webinar meeting on the 21st.
