Crews have begun work to replace the turf at memorial stadium which has been there for about a dozen years.  Wichita falls ISD board  members voted unanimously to move forward with installing new turf. It's going to cost a little more than 700 thousand dollars for a fort worth company to work on this project.
"We are taking out the old AstroTurf, using that word generically, asphalt base improving the drainage system, flatting out the field a little bit. Basically beautifying and making this facility a lot safer," said Douglass Morgan, Paragon Sports.
WFISD says the cost of the new field also covers the price of installing a new drainage system. It's expected to be done by June 1st,  in time for the Oil Bowl.
