On Tuesday, City leaders held a groundbreaking ceremony for Downtown's latest attraction.

Members of the Wichita Falls City Council, County Commissioners, and other city leaders all took part in the ceremony.

The travel center will serve as a hub for city buses, as well as regional and national bus lines.

That means regional riders won't have to board or get off in Jolly.

It will also make make it easier for local veterans to get to the VA Hospital Oklahoma City.

Cynthia Laney with Wichita Falls Downtown Proud said the travel center will help promote downtown businesses, and bring more dollars into the area.

"Whether you're from out of town, or whether you're from within the city, it's going to afford you the opportunity to come downtown to take care of your business and take advantage of the services [downtown offers]," said Laney.

City officials expect the travel center will be built and fully operational by July.
