Dozens of people were waiting to get inside Workforce Solutions of North Texas when it opened at 8 a.m.
And, those people all had one thing in mind; to get one step closer to landing one of the 400 jobs that are coming to town.
Nakeisha Birkenfeld lives in Iowa Park.
This mother and bride-to-be has a job but while surfing the internet she found a local job opening with Metasys Technologies which could allow her to earn a lot more money.
"I work in the technical support area and that's what they're specifically looking for. You're on the computer all day. You're on the phone all day so you pretty much get the experience," says Birkenfeld
Four hundred experienced workers will soon occupy the second floor of the AT&T Call Center in Wichita Falls.
Metasys Technologies and collabera have signed a contract to each hire 200 people who are highly proficient in computers.
And those jobs will start at $20 an hour; an amount Tana Howard says would help her and her husband pay the bills.
"He's not working right now. You know, the economy's bad right now. Really bad. So, that's why I'm here," explains Howard.
Officials at Workforce Solutions say so were dozens of others.
We probably had 40 to 50 people walk in the door to be interviewed. We anticipate that's probably going to be the norm until the two staffing agencies get the numbers that they're looking for," says Bill Scantlin, Business Service Manager at Workforce Solutions of North Texas.
After a brief meeting with company representatives, this applicant says she's one step closer to a better paying job.
"They said that they were going to personally e-mail me cause I have the tech background and they're gonna get me the e-mail address to apply directly online," says Birkenfeld.
Metasys Technologies and Collabera are both taking applications hiring right now.
To apply, contact Workforce Solutions of North Texas.
We're told both companies plan to start hiring in mid-April.
