This year their fundraising goal is to raise $125,000 between now and February 23rd. More than 70 volunteers will work to raise funds for the campaign they are calling "Leave a Legacy --- Lead like there's no tomorrow" This campaign helps ensure that no child is ever turned away from any "Y" program, due to inability to pay.
"I've been here 15 years and I've never seen a child turned away or a family for that matter. If any one wants to be a part of of the programs we'll certainly make it possible for them," said Brandon Brown, YMCA of Wichita Falls.
Tuesday night, Texas native and Kansas City Royals Coach Steve Foster was the keynote speaker during the kick off dinner. He spoke about the impact the YMCA had on his life as a child and how it helped him fulfill his dream.
"It's and honor, a privileged to give back to a group of people that really impacted my life so many times in life. We get moving so fast we don't take the time to let people know the impact that they've made in our lives and I think that's what the Y has done for me," said Steve Foster.
If you would like to make a donation call the Downtown YMCA at 322- 7816.
