Several members of the men's US short track speed skating team started their careers indoors with inline skating. And that strong bond has remained over the years and now has the guys gearing up for gold in Russia.

Individually they'll compete against one another but together there's a strong connection on the men's us short track speed skating team.

JR Celski says "We're all from the inline worlds, we've known each since we were 11 years old, so it's nice to have that chemistry going into the Olympic games. "

Their inline background offers the burst needed to take take top honors this year...Both individually and collectively
Emily Scott on the US Women's Olympic Short Track Speed Skate Team says "the guys team is fantastic. They have a shot at a gold in the relay."

A common misconception is that speed skating relies solely on speed but that's not entirely the case. This group of guys says their 'strength' may actually surprise some people.
Celski says "in the summer we train up to 8 hours a day, 4 hours on bikes. People don't know what's under the skin suit, but we're machines out there."

Short track speed skating gets underway on Monday February 10th. The men start with a qualifying heat in the 1500m followed by a 500m qualifying heat for the ladies.
