2014 FNF:District 12-1A, Division 2

- District 12-1A, Division 2 features three teams who were district mates last season.
Forestburg, Gold-burg, Woodson and state semifinalist Newcastle were together.
The trio trades the Bobcats for perennial playoff participant Throckmorton.
The Greyhounds drop from Division One to Division Two.
The Forestburg Longhorns are coached by second year head coach Wayne Tuckwell.
The Longhorns finished 4-5 just right out side of a playoff spot.
Tuckwell says the big things going for this year's team is the increase in numbers as well as all of the starters returning.
Wayne Tuckwell, Forestburg Head Football Coach-"I had pretty much 7 players all year long. This year will be a lot different. I have got some good players coming up from junior high. I got some players that didn't play football last year that will play football this year. So hopefully we are going from 7 kids to about 15 kids."
Gold-burg also has good numbers.
The Bears have a new coach in Jay Johnson who came from Ira.
Retuning for Johnson is 5 starters on both sides of the ball.
Plus Gold-burg made it back to the playoffs last season with a 3-8 mark for the first time since 2011.
With the depth of players on the team, the bears look to make it back to back playoff appearances.
Jay Johnson, Gold-burg Head Football Coach-"We do have a group of kids coming back. So I am excited about them. We have a whole lot of freshmen. But we do have some veterans coming back. They have a high football IQ. We do lack in fundamentals. That is what we are going to stress this year.We are excited about that."
Over at Woodson, the Cowboys are coached by second year coach Bobby Lankford.
Last season, Woodson won just one game.
They had to forfeit their last two games due to injuries.
There is a sense of optimism for the Cowboys as Coach Lankford says his team's goal is to win at least 7 games with a strong nucleus of returning players.
Bobby Lankford, Woodson Head Football Coach-"The good thing is we had so many young players. So many freshmen and sophomores. That is going to help this years team. Those guys that ended last year had big hearts. They were mentally into the game last year. That is going to help them this year for the season. We are going to start off much better that we did last year."
Throckmorton also has a new head coach in Shane Mallory who coached at Gordon last season.
Mallory replaces Bill Reed.
But Reed didn't leave the cupboard bare.
The Greyhounds return 3 starters on both sides of the ball.
Throckmorton made the playoffs last season with a 9-2 mark.
The team surprisingly lost in the first round of the playoffs.
Shane Mallory, Throckmorton Head Football Coach-"This bunch we are going to have this year is very talented. It is exciting to have the type of players we are going to have. Even though we are not going to have that many. We are going to have 13 players. It is exciting to gear up for what is coming."
