When the Graham Steers take the field in their state semifinal game on Saturday night, one of the biggest weapons they'll face on the opposing team is the placekicker.Senior Cole Hedlund two years ago broke the national record for most field goals kicked in a season with 25.
Two weeks ago he broke the national record for most career field goals made. He even received a mention in Sports Illustrated.
Hedlund is committed to play collegiately at Arkansas.Where did Cole get his talent? You might think his brother Chad passed along the skills.
Chad kicked 33 field goals at Argyle before moving on to Wake Forest. But it was really his dad John who passed along the skills.
You see, dad played 10 years of professional soccer before becoming the women's head soccer coach at North Texas where in 18 season he's led the Mean Green to 250 wins.
John also was a four-year all-american soccer star in college.
At Midwestern State.
As Paul Harvey would say...now you know the rest of the story.
