Kole Weldon scored 24 points in the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships to help the Red Raiders win then men's title.
The Texas Tech men's track team won its first Big 12 championship since 2005 over the weekend.The Red Raiders were led by the former Jacksboro standout.The All-American thrower was the high point scorer at the meet.
Weldon racked up 24 points by finishing second in events all three days. Weldon gave his team eight points each day of the meet, Friday in the hammer throw, Saturday in the shot put and Sunday in the discus.
Weldon has already laid out his plans for the regional tournament saying "At regionals I'll drop the hammer and focus on the shot and disc. I can promise you there will be huge throws. I guarantee you I will hit big throws. Look forward to that the next two meets, at regionals and nationals. I'm getting things together and I'm going to throw big. I'm very excited about that."
