You know what's hard? Winning a state championship. You know whats even harder? Winning two in a row. But this past weekend Burkburnett's Sarah Moore made it look like a walk in the park, or golf course. You get the idea.
On the kind of day that even most die hard golfers would have stayed inside...Uil state golf tournament rolled on...And Sarah Moore just told herself "Grind it out". She knew all she needed was to make it to day 2 "it was pretty tough. But i knew every other girl was playing in it so i knew i couldn't really worry about that. I knew i just had to play the best i could in the conditions."
And just like the year before, the year Moore won state for the first time, she found herself three shots back. "after the first day i didn't feel that good about the score but i knew i could do it if i came back and did it last year."
And come back she did. Blazing through the front nine even par. Taking the lead going into the back 9 of the final round. "i knew i was in the lead by quite a few. I knew if i kept that steady pace for the back nine i knew i should be fine."
And after shooting a 1 over par 73, Moore closed out her second straight state championship. And only a junior, you can bet she'll be back next year.
