WFHS' Bates & Murphy Sign National Baseball Letters Of Intent

It was a special day Wednesday for two Wichita Falls High School baseball players as they signed letter of intent for college.
1st baseman and outfielder Garron Bates in going to further his baseball career at Stephen F. Austn.
Last season for the Coyotes, bates hit .389, he had 6 homeruns and 33 rbi's.
Bates was voted to the District 5-4A offensive MVP. He was named second team all-state.
Bates will primarily be a first baseman for the Lumberjacks.
"It's exciting. I get to advance in my baseball chapter of my life. I get to do what a small percentage of kids get to do out of high school. That's go to the next leve and play sports. I am honored it is special to me," said Bates.
Meanwhile, Coyotes pitcher Zack Murphy signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Midland College.
Last season for the Coyotes, Murphy pitched 53 innings and had a record of 7-2.
He had 55 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.35.
Murphy was first team District 5-4A pitcher.
He has some big goals when he joins Midland College
"My goals are not to die in the workouts. I heard they had a pretty hard workout going there. So hopefully I can hang out there. Expectations is to be a part of the rotation. And to be a guy they can count on," said Murphy.
