Midwestern State's Katy Vandewater and Kelley Schaefer stayed out each connected for a solo home run, but No. 1 West Texas A&M scored each of its runs with two outs to come away with a 6-2 win in the South Central Regional 1 Championship Friday night at Schaeffer Park.

The Mustangs (28-23) take on Texas Woman's in an elimination game Saturday at 4 p.m. The winner survives to play the loser of the winner's bracket final between WT and Metro State at 6:30 p.m.

Metro State claimed a 9-4 win over Texas Woman's earlier in the afternoon.

West Texas A&M's Renee Erwin and Tyler Wilkinson raced home when Kaisha Dacosin reached on a fielder's choice for the second out of the first inning to give the Lady Buffs the early lead.

The Mustangs pulled even at 2-2 on solo homer in the second and third innings by Vandewater and Schaefer.

Vandewater homered in her third straight game and has six long balls in her last five games and now has a team-high 16 homers.
