Will Midwestern State soon be looking for a new head basketball coach?

According to sources close to the situation, MSU head coach Nelson Haggerty is a strong candidate to take the head coaching vacancy at Central Missouri.

Haggerty was an assistant for the Mules in 2007 and 2008 when Central Missouri advanced to the national semifinals.

The Mules coaching position opened on Monday when Kim Anderson left to take the head coaching job at the University of Missouri.

Central Missouri athletic director Jerry Hughes told us today an announcement is expected to be made within the next 6-8 days and that Haggerty "would be a fine choice".

We attempted to reach Coach Haggerty today and have not heard back.
