Silver Star Nation Report: September 24, 2013

- On his radio show this morning, Cowboys Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones said defensive end Anthony Spencer may need microfracture surgery to repair his left knee. And the surgery would end his season.

Cowboys insider Mickey Spagnola on Spencer's status: "He's going to need microfracture surgery in some form or fashion. They have different types these days. When you have that surgery you're done for the season and you're probably done for 10-12 months. It's a pretty serious procedure to try to regenerate the growth of missing cartilage under the kneecap. It's a severe blow to the Cowboys because they were certainly counting on him to coming back and being able to play this year. It's a severe blow to him personally because as you know he signed that one year franchise tag so next year would have been his opportunity to go into free agency and you never want to go into free agency after a year on injured reserve."
