Vernon College Names New Volleyball Coach

- Vernon, Texas, August 19, 2014--Vernon College Volleyball Coach, Cole Tallman, has accepted a position at Erskine College in South Carolina as the Men’s Head Volleyball Coach. Taking the rains for the Lady Chaps 2014 season is Assistant Coach Tatiana Booth.

Booth who was starting her second year as an assistant coach at Vernon College will begin head coaching duties. “I am beyond excited to step into this new role for Vernon College volleyball. Our girls have been working so hard, and I expect us to do some great things this season. These past few weeks the girls have gone through tough practices and have laid down a solid foundation. The girls’ leadership and hard work thus far has excelled my expectations.” stated Coach Booth.

Vernon College President, Dr. Dusty Johnston stated, “Vernon College is very fortunate to have someone as qualified and prepared as Coach Booth ready to take the reins and lead our volleyball program. She is an outstanding coach and a great person to work with. Team members and parents enjoy her leadership style.”

Booth graduated from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma where she received a Bachelor’s in Arts Degree and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from East Central University. She played volleyball at Hill College for two years before transferring to East Central University. While at East Central she was a middle blocker who finished her career leading the Great American Conference in hitting percentage and becoming an All-GAC First teamer.

The Lady Chaps begin their season this weekend at the Midland College Tournament and their first home conference game is September 18. A full 2014 Volleyball schedule can be found on the Vernon College homepage by clicking on Athletics.
