A candidate in this year's upcoming Republican primary election was in Texoma on Thursday evening talking to rural voters.
Elaine Hays is running for the 13th district congressional seat held by incumbent Congressman Mac Thornberry.
Hays was in Windthorst talking to folks about why she hopes to get their vote in the upcoming primary.
She says even though many of the voters in the 13th district live in larger cities like Amarillo and Wichita Falls, she feels it is important to reach out to folks in the smaller communities.
"A lot of the people that live in this district are out in the rural areas and so it is very important for them to have access and have face to face opportunities to ask their questions, tell you their concerns and have a chance to connect," Hays says.
Hays says if elected, she would like to see term limits put into place.
Along with Hays, Thornberry will also face Bowie Veterinarian Pam Barlow in the Republican primary for the 13th district seat.
Voters will head to the polls in the primary election on March 4.
