More delays for contractors waiting on permits from the Bowie Planning and Zoning Commission.

Tuesday night, the city council there chose to hold off a vote on possibly firing members of the commission on advice from City Attorney, Tracey Jennings.

Several months ago, the council ordered the 5- member panel to either resign over allegations of a possible open meetings violation, or be removed.

Then, after not meeting for over a month to discuss the issue, Jennings informed the council she'd received letters from 2- members of the commission, who'd sought legal advice, saying they're requesting a public hearing.

That did not play well to some very frustrated members of the packed audience.

Windol Robbins/Contractor: "I realize we knew this was coming. So, now it's here. So, now we've got to make a decision, but we're still postponing it. We're still postponing it for two weeks. I mean, what's that supposed to do for guys like me; electricians, plumbers, painters, the trades that work here in Bowie, Texas? Are we supposed to just stop? That's basically what we're doing."
"Wayne Ballard/Bowie Resident: "You need to read and follow the ordinances in this, because I think there's quite a few other ones in there, that we're not doing a good job. Maybe we're too lax on it. I don't know, but I'd appreciate it if y'all would try to focus in on representing the people a little bit better than you're doing now. Thank you."

Wayne Ballard spoke those words at the top of the meeting, and did not change his opinion throughout.

Some members of the council expressed frustration as well, at the advice to not take action.

The public hearing to again take up the subject is set for November 26th.
