The Boy Scouts of America celebrated their achievements during their 4th Annual Community Excellence Banquet on Tuesday evening.

Dozens gathered to honor those scouts who have made a difference over the last year.

Oil entrepreneur and former candidate for Texas governor, Clayton Williams was the guest speaker at the event.

Williams is an eagle scout and says the values he learned during his time as a scout helped him in professional career.

"Each of these characters that are taught in scouting are useful in the grown up world," Williams says. "You're catching these kids when they want to be outdoors. They want to do thing and trying to harness that energy that is blossoming from in and channeling it in the best direction."

Williams says the most important values a scout can learn is honesty and trustworthiness and that it is important for parents to be supportive of their children's decisions.
