Burkburnett High School softball player Kaylea Armstrong signed Saturday with North Central Texas College. She has been a starter all four years on third base with a batting average of .384 for Burkburnett High School. She was 2-time all district 1st team infield/pitcher, and also was a 2013 Diamond Dozen. “Kaylea has been one of the most consistent players we’ve had so far. She is a big part of our team on taking us to the regional finals and the state tournament. Kaylea hit the three run homerun in the 12th inning to send us to state. It was one of the most exciting games we’ve had. I know she is going to do a great job in college,” said Burkburnett Head Softball Coach Allen Hennan.
“My parents were a big part of what I’ve become today,” said Armstrong. “They have taken me anywhere and everywhere I have needed to go. If I needed to go to Dallas for just a 30 minute practice, they were already in the car waiting. I could never thank them enough for all the stuff they had to go through, just to get me this opportunity.” Jimmy Armstrong, Kaylea's father, graduated from Dallas Baptist University, and went on to play for the Atlanta Braves. “Ever since I was a little girl hearing about how good my dad was, I’ve always wanted to be just like him when I grew up,” said Armstrong. Not only in softball, Kaylea also wants continue her career and go on to get a nursing degree.
