Chuck Hartney passed away Wednesday night.

Hartney joined the service in 1942.

He went to radio operator training, and was sent to England with a bomb group out of Utah.

During a mission, Hartney's plane was shot down over Hamburg, Germany.

He and eight others parachuted to the ground, but were soon captured.

Hartney served nine months as a POW.

A military funeral for Hartney is scheduled for 1 pm Monday at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home.

That's on 9th Street.

Burial will follow off Archer City Highway at 3 pm, at Crestview Memorial Park.
