4B Tax Money Will Help MPEC Make Improvements

Tuesday morning Wichita Falls City Councilors voted to approve a resolution that will provide more than $700,000 of 4B tax money to go towards four improvement projects at the MPEC.

Those projects will include a business tracking system, indoor sports turf, a video scoreboard and money set aside to be used as an incentives fund that will attract new business bids.

Even though the MPEC does not always make money or even break even on their events, officials say it's important that they can compete with other facilities because events at the MPEC produce revenue throughout the city.

"What were trying to do is trying to bring the facilities we have here up to a standard that everyone else seems to have at this point. I think that we have a good building, we have a good market and I think that by doing these things we'll be able to enhance what we already have and also attract new things," says MPEC Executive Director Bob Sullivan.
