A World for Children Aims to Promote Fostering

The local chapter is currently working with 25 children and 25 families.
A historic home in downtown Wichita Falls will now be used to help find safe places to live for area foster kids.

A World for Children opened its door this morning.

The organization is a child placement agency specializing in recruiting, training, and monitoring children in foster families.

In Wichita Falls, representatives say their goal is to get as many families as they can to become fosters.

They say the need in this area is unbelievable.

Samantha Taggart, a case manager, says, "This is part of Region 29, which covers all the way to Brownwood, San Angelo, Montague County and Hardeman. There's a lot of drug use. It's a big rural area with drugs and that's why I believe the need is so huge here."

A World for Children was established 17 years ago and has 13 other offices around the Texas.
