A hang up 911 call leads Lawton Police in an involved shooting.

Lawton Police say they were following up on a 911 hang up call, which is standard procedure.

Officers headed to the 39 hundred block of Northwest Santa Fe Ave. to go to the home where the hang up called was made around midnight last night.

Police say two officers knocked on the door, but no one responded for a while.

Then a man opened the door with a black handgun in his hand pointing at the two officers.

Officials say both officers drew their weapons and fired at the man.

A bullet struck the man's upper left chest.

And neighbors say that created quit a busy scene for the next several hours.

"I saw police cars, ambulance, and fire trucks were coming from everywhere. So when they went to pulling their guns and running all through the yard I said well let me get back in if they are looking for somebody let me get back in," said Mary Scale said a neighbor who lived next store to the scene.

Thirty-two year-old Randal Ruth junior was arrested for "feloniously pointing a firearm."

He was taken to the Comanche County Memorial Hospital for treatment and was later moved to the Lawton City Jail were he now remains, with additional charges.

After the shooting police searched Ruth's home and say they found a large amount of marijuana.

The Lawton Police Department has given the case to the Oklahoma State Bureau of investigation were it remains under investigation.
