Barbara Pays it Forward at the Gas Pump

Barbara Palmer wanted to use the $300 to pay it forward to....

Summer gas prices are finally on the decline but that doesn't help you feel any better as you stand there watching the ol' pump continuously tick up while you fill up your car.

Wednesday morning our Pay-it-Forward team of Jon Hansen and photo journalist J.D. Williams headed out to United Market Street where they met a life long Texoman who wanted to not only top off some tanks but add some extra fuel to several people's day!

Meet Barbara Palmer, a life long Texoman, grandmother and cancer survivor who says her goal in life is to bless others.

"God blesses me and I want to bless someone else," said Barbara Palmer, this week's Pay-it-Forward winner.

Barbara was on her way to take her grand kids to the clinic when she saw our Pay-it-Forward truck and couldn't resist the urge to pull over.

In fact, Barbara wanted to be as random as possible in using the money to help others.

"I guess I’ll find someone over there and pay for their gas," said Palmer.

And once Barbara bought one tank of gas there was no stopping her.

We even had a hard time keeping up with Barbara, but folks who had their car filled up couldn't help but express how surprised and grateful they where.

"I was in shock at first. I didn't understand. It's just a blessing that someone would do that. I can't believe that. It's a great way to start off my day," said Summer Hanson who had her gas tank filled up.

But Summer wasn't the only one who got that special gift

"That's awesome! I mean it was a great surprise," said Amanda Kirkland.

Barbara was able to spread that 300 dollars to top off the tanks of seven different drivers.

And thanks to Barbara, each drove away with a full tank and a smile on their face.
