Bid Awarded for Phase 1 of Terminal Area Project

Bid Awarded for Phase 1 of Terminal Area Project

City Councilors award a bid to Anthony Inman Construction to begin the first phase of the Terminal Area Project at the Municipal Airport.
Phase one includes work on the entry road into the airport, and building a new parking lot.

The work has to be done so the City can move onto phase two, which consists of building a new terminal.

City leaders said they're excited to get the project started, and use local contractors to get the job done.

"If we can keep local subcontractors involved at the local level, that's an opportunity to invest back into Wichita Falls," said John Burrus, Director of Aviation, Traffic and Transportation, "the second thing is it creates an opportunity for entry ways into our community."

Burrus said work on the new parking lot should start later this month, but it will be 2015 before the new airport terminal is complete.
