Bowie Lands Second TxDOT Aviation Grant

The money will be used to replace taxiways at the airport.
Bowie officials are moving forward with the second phase of their airport rehabilitation project after receiving more grant money from TxDOT.

Bowie Municipal Airport Manager Stony Lowrance says the $1.1 million grant comes from the state agency's aviation division.

He says that money will be used to rip up the asphalt that is currently on taxiway B.

Then crews will lay new asphalt.

Lowrance says phase two construction should begin around late May or early June.

Crews are currently working on phase one of the airport rehabilitation project.

That's thanks to a $1.2 million grant from TxDOT's Aviation Division.

Phase one of the project includes ripping up and replacing taxiway A, the airport's drainage system, and electrical lights.

The first phase is expected to be complete in April.
