Brush Fire Creates Smoky Conditions near Lawrence Road

A blaze fueled by grasses, shrubs, trees, and railroad ties leaves a piece of land by Academy scorched.
A lot of smoke, but truly a small fire, considering the fire was burning behind Academy...

Fire officials say the blaze started about two this afternoon and was fueled by grasses, shrubs, trees, and railroad ties from an old abandoned railroad track.  The fire consumed only about a fourth of an acre.

Seven units were called in, just in case the winds fanned the flames, but the fire was extinguished within about 20 minutes.
