Burkburnett is discussing bringing in a company to help decide if they have the resources to build a competitive softball and baseball field that would host national and regional tournaments.

The success of the Black Socks baseball team has made some citizens believe that Burk is the perfect place to build a nice field.

The Black Socks currently travel out of town to play.

If Conventions, Sports & Leisure International decides Burk is the place to build a field it would be used for many teams, not just the Black Socks.

Burk City's Interim Manager says building the field would also bring in revenue for surrounding towns.

“You would have more use in and more room sales, for the hotels for the restaurants and wouldn't necessarily limits to Burkburnett, with a facility the size and caliber they are discussing it would spill over into Wichita with the hotel and restaurant business, so it would be a regional deal,” says Interim City Manager Chester Nolen.

Burk has no location planned for the field or a fiance plan.

They will know more after CSL presents their report.
