Carl Law Re-elected as Burkburnett Mayor

Mayor Carl Law was elected to serve another term, in a unanimous decision.
Burkburnett's city's original charter makes the choosing of a mayor a unique situation. Tuesday night, City Commissioners decided to give the job to a man who's held the job before. Mayor Carl Law was elected to serve another term, in a unanimous decision.
This will be his 5th year to serve as mayor of Burkburnett. And, before that Law served one year as a City Commissioner.
The city of Burkburnett is unlike many cities where the mayor is chosen by the community. In Burk, City Commissioners nominate candidates. And, according to Mayor Law, this format goes back to the city's original charter, drafted in the 1920s. Tuesday evening Law was the lone name nominated to be mayor.
"I think it's an honor to be the only one nominated, but it's a great honor to be the only of Burkburnett. It's a great city, great people, and I am just thrilled to be able to work with the city another year," said Mayor Law.
In addition to Law's re- election Tuesday evening four new Commissioners took their oaths of office. They'll serve the city for the next 2 years.
