Construction on the new water slide at Castaway Cove is being delayed.
Last year Wichita Falls city councilors approved the purchase of a new aqua loop water slide with a price tag of one million dollars.
Now assistant city manager Kevin Hugman says that project has been delayed.
Hugman says after reviewing the plans for the slide the city decided they would not have it up and running by the time the park would open for the 2014 summer season.
He also says the current drought situation means the project is not a priority.
They expect to start taking bids for construction in mid to late summer.
Many city officials have said if we are still in stage 4 or have moved to stage 5 water restrictions, Castaway Cove will not open this summer.
