Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day

Texomans crowd Chick-Fil-A to support "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day."

Texomans flocked to Chick-Fil-A in Lawton today in support of what former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee declared as "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day."

It started when the president of Chick-Fil-A, Dan Cathy, made a statement to the Baptist Press concerning same-sex marriage.

Chick-Fil-A didn't want to comment on the controversy but they did say they serve everyone with honor, dignity, and respect.

And today, they definitely did a whole lot of serving.

At the corner of Cache and 23rd Street in Lawton cars blocked traffic on the busy main road waiting for one thing; Chick-Fil-A , but it wasn't so much about what customers ordered but why they were there.

"My husband and I came out to support Mr. Cathy. I mean he's right, God said a man and woman is what a marriage is," said Janet Brown from Lawton.

People, like Brown, came to support what Mr. Cathy the president of Chick-Fil-A said during an interview to the baptist press about same sex marriage.

Arnold Oliver drove up with several others from Wichita Falls to show their support for Mr. Cathy.

"We're not bigots, we try to be tolerant but what we see here is intolerance being expressed against Chick-Fil-A," Oliver said.

Folks sat in forty minute lines just to get a taste.

Two 18 year-old girls even parked several blocks away for a meal.

But when it came to the controversy Hayley Durhem said she was somewhere in between, "I can see both sides to what is going on here, but i am not going to stop eating at a restaurant for views," she said.

Now there were no protesters at the Chick-Fil-A today, but the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is supporting a "National Same-Sex Kiss Day" on Friday.
