If you are ready to take down your real Christmas tree the city of Wichita Falls Sanitation department  has set up four location for easy disposal.

Here are the four locations...
  • At Lucy Park, on Sunset Lane off Seymour Highway
  • At the Kiwanis Park, on Southwest Parkway
  • The City Transfer Station on Lawrence Road
  • At the city landfill on Wiley Road.
The drop off sites are open 24 hours a day. You should not put your tree in trash bins or dumpsters and the city does ot make curbside pick up of trees.  They ask when you drop off these tree that they are completely stripped of all decorations. The city then takes the trees and grinds them up to make mulch and compost for the parks and medians.
"The tree doesn't have a whole lot of mulch in it bu every little bit helps our soils here are so bad that the more compost we have the better everybody is,"said Dave Lehfeldt, Sanitation Department Director.
And speaking of trash, this weekend's holiday trash schedule will be the same as the Christmas one. There will be no pick up Monday. Mondays routes will shifted to Tuesday. Tuesday routes will be shifted to Wednesday. There will be no Wednesday yard waste pickup. Thursday and Friday routes stay the same.
