Wichita Falls city leaders want to encourage you to fly out of Municipal Airport ... and this morning, councilors approved spending 55- thousand dollars on a marketing campaign to promote just that.
Transportation Director John Burrus points out that with the new jet aircraft, you can expect a smoother, faster ride to DFW -- and more space for luggage.
Plus it's only three dollars total to park.
And beginning April third, Municipal will be getting a fourth flight added to its schedule -- which will depart around 3:30.
   John Burrus
W.F. Director of Transportation
"There's a perception out there that it is more expensive -- & yes, there'll be a little bit more charge for flying out of Wichita Falls, but by the time you factor in your travel, your gasoline, wear & tear on your vehicle, and parking, that adds up pretty quick."
The council also approved spending 45- thousand dollars on some minor improvements at Kickapoo Downtown Airport.
These projects are *not* funded by tax dollars. Instead, the money comes from airline user fees, and fuel taxes.
