“Cops and Robbers” Chase Down Help for Crime Stoppers

If you were in downtown Wichita Falls Saturday you may have been seeing stripes. And it was all part of the fun at the Crime Stoppers Cops and Robbers 5k Pursuit.
If you were in downtown Wichita Falls Saturday you may have been seeing stripes.

And it was all part of the fun at the Crime Stoppers Cops and Robbers 5k Pursuit.

Runners hit the pavement Saturday morning to raise money to help the Wichita Falls Police Department.

The WFPD Swat Team competed, too, decked out in all their gear.

The money raised goes toward the Crime Stoppers tip line, which allows citizens to anonymously report information about local crimes.

Organizers say they're overwhelmed by the community's response to the event.

“This is incredible, when we first thought of this we thought maybe we'd get 50 or a hundred people to show up, for this many people to show up, and support the community, support Crime Stoppers is incredible,” says Organizer Stephen Santellana.

Crime Stoppers hopes to make the event an annual fundraiser.
