County Employees Donate Thousands in Gifts for Annual Angel Tree Project

Wichita County Sheriff's deputies delivered gifts to Patsy's House and Faith Refuge Wednesday.
Some area kids who aren't expecting anything under their Christmas tree this year will have something to smile about come Christmas morning thanks to Wichita County employees.

From bicycles to big, stuffed teddy bears, county employees wanted to make sure children in need got exactly what they wanted this year, so they asked for wish lists from children served by Patsy's House and Faith Refuge.

Employees then bought and wrapped gifts off those lists.

Organizers say they host the county's "angel tree" program year after year to show the community how much they care.

Wichita County Deputy Bryan Peeler says, "Because Wichita County is a big family. Everybody works together through everybody's personal problems and everything. It's just one thing to show the community, 'Hey, we're here for you and we're here to help and support everybody."

The yearly tradition started in 2004 when the sheriff's office bought gifts for 20 children from Faith Mission.
