It was out with the old, in with the new in Wichita Falls today ... as crews began the demolition process to make way for a project meant to ease traffic congestion at one of the busiest intersections in Wichita Falls.
In July, city councilors approved spending one point three million dollars purchasing the Strategic Realtors building on Call Field...
And today, workers started to demolish the building.
City officials want to have the realignment project finished before Thanksgiving.
It will re-align Lawrence Road so it flows directly into Rhea Road.
Today, city officials received paperwork from the owners of the old Faith Village Shopping center who have accepted the city's offer of about 46-hundred dollars for a tiny plot of land in the grass parkway.
The city is still in negotiations with the owners of the Kohl's parking lot, for another small section needed.
City officials say they believe they'll be able to come to an agreement rather than having to invoke eminent domain.
