Dance to benefit Olney mother killed in house fire

The family of a Olney mother killed in a house fire is organizing a dance in hopes of buying her a headstone.

A dance benefitting a young Olney mother killed in a house ast Friday is set for Nov. 2 in hopes of buying her a headstone.

23- year- old Jessica Blackburn, her boyfriend, their 15-month-old son and her uncle were all staying warm by using a wood burning stove.

Olney Police Chief Barry Roberts says the family used too much wood, and a fire sparked, filling the house with smoke.

Roberts says the uncle grabbed the boy and went out a back door.

Blackburn and her boyfriend tried going out the front door.

Roberts says according to Blackburn's boyfriend, that's when she pulled away screaming for her child and ran back inside.

The home was engulfed within minutes and Blackburn was killed.

A graveside service is set on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Restland Cemetery in Olney.

The benefit dance will happen later that evening at 7:30 p.m. in the American Legion VFW.
