Dead Fish Line the Shore of Lake Wichita

Dead fish cover the shore at Lake Wichita

Last week we told you about an investigation by Oklahoma Wildlife and Environmental of large fish dying in the Red River.

Now fish are washing up along the shore of Lake Wichita in Wichita Falls.

And it's causing a smelly problem for people who enjoy the lake.

Several different species of fish are littering the banks.

People who use the Lake Wichita trail frequently say while they notice this problem every year it still bothers one of their more important senses.

"They become very stinky and it does definitely give your period of exercise out here. It's a negative effect on it," said Preston Crow, a Wichita Falls resident.

The cause is still unknown as to why the fish are washing up on the beaches

We will keep you posted on more details as we find them.
