Deputies Find Disabled Woman Kept in Cage Inside Wichita Falls Home

Deputies found a 25-year-old disabled woman being kept inside a locked cage last Thursday.

Wichita County deputies are describing the conditions a disabled Wichita Falls woman were being kept in as straight from the scene of a Hollywood horror movie.

Sheriff David Duke says they were able to rescue a woman being kept locked up in a cage in her own home last week.

Duke says deputies were serving a warrant for aggravated robbery and felony parole violation on 27-year-old Mickey Stewart.

He's charged with aggravated robbery for allegedly robbing the Dollar Tree in the 39-hundred block of Kemp in September and backing his car into the assistant manager who tried to stop the crime.

Deputies went to a home in the 31-hundred block of North East Dr. to arrest Stewart.

Duke says they walked inside and were overtaken by smells of urine and feces.

He says several caged dogs and wolves were found inside and animal urine and feces was all over the home.

But that wasn't the worst part.

Duke says when the deputies entered a back room, they heard sounds and thought there was another animal in the room.

Instead, deputies found a 25-year-old woman naked inside a large metal cage.

They believe she was being forced to live in that cage.

"The female was unable to see and would only follow sounds by looking in the direction of the sounds, never being able to actually look at or focus on the direction of the deputies or the sounds they were making to her," Duke says.  "The female was in a semi-fetal position, and had dried fecal matter on her thighs, genital area, hands, arms, and hair, and appeared to be trying to chew the dried feces from the back of her hands."

He says the victim was taken to the hospital.

She's been treated and released to an adult services facility in Wichita Falls.

Duke says no criminal charges have been filed but they are pending.

He also says this has turned into a multi-agency investigation involving the sheriff's office, the district attorney's office and adult protective services.
