Donation Still Being Accepted for Humane Society of W.C.

Hirschi Realtors still accepting donations to help the Humane Society of Wichita County repair storm damage.

Tomorrow is the last day to donate to help a Texoma animal shelter repair damage from a storm last week.

Winds from a strong storm that blew through early last Friday morning toppled the fiberglass roof that covers 17 kennels at the Humane Society of Wichita County. It freed several dogs, who were rounded up on the property, but it also injured one dog's leg and pinned another dog under the heavy metal fencing.

Shelter officials say both dogs will be okay but repairing the damage will cost $2,500, which is the shelter's insurance deductible amount.

To help out, a Wichita Falls business is accepting donations. You can drop off donations at Hirschi Realtors on Maplewood Avenue. They're open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday is the last day they'll be taking donations.
