Drought Update 5-5: Third of Texoma in Stage 5

New drought information shows at least a third of Texoma counties and communities have reached Stage 5 "Exceptional" drought.
The drought.gov update for Thursday, May 5, 2011 is in and shows that the Stage 5 "Exceptional" drought level has expanded west.  This now indicates at least a third of Texoma's counties are in the highest level of drought there is.  Unfortunately recent rainfall was not enough to downgrade other counties drought rating at Stage 4 "Extreme."

At this time there is no significant rainfall in the forecast.  Let's pray that changes.
